Dr. Hussien, 60, is a father of six and owns 2Ha of land in Bitana Kebele, Nansebo Woreda, West Arsi Zone of Oromia Region. He grows 74112 coffee variety processed Washed.

Dr. Hussien is a pioneer in the coffee industry. He is a key player in the sector, serving as the president of the Ethiopian Coffee Growers, Producers, and Exporters associations. He is also a steering committee member of the Cup of Excellence Ethiopia from the initial stage. “I am very passionate about coffee and call myself a real coffee farmer. I am aware of the importance and value of COE to farmers and the industry in general. The competition is a huge opportunity to promote Ethiopia’s coffee on a global stage and to new market destinations,” he said.

Dr. Hussien is excited that his coffee made it to the final 40. “I consider this a payback for my hard work in the sector for my entire life,” he said.
