Description
Mate is a 51 years old coffee farmer and father of six who lives in Keramo kebele in the Bura zone of Sidama. He has been farming coffee for seven years and he grows the 74158 variety of coffee on four hectares of land out of the 11 hectares he owns. This year (2021) he produced 11,600 kilograms of coffee and processed it into natural coffee. He used to sell his produce on the local market but this was not profitable because he says it is difficult to cover his expense. Therefore, currently, he has become a licensed exporting farmer and is negotiating with exporters in Addis Ababa hoping his coffee can sell on the international market with better profit.
