Description
Finca Las Chicharras is a farm located in Ángel Albino Corzo, better known to the coffee community as Jaltenango. It is a farm that has been operating for many years, but it wasn't until 2015 that the producer Young Yong Lee formally acquired the property and began implementing new practices for coffee cultivation and harvesting. Over the years, the farm has evolved and innovated practices to not only harvest good coffee but also to reduce ecological impact. At Finca Las Chicharras, varieties such as Marsellesa, Guacamaya, Geisha, and Maragogype are cultivated. We have a nursery with over 3,000 plants that are cultivated annually to maintain proper and fresh planting. Initially, the farm had a huge wet mill that, due to its size, consumed immeasurable amounts of water. Five years ago, the old mill ceased operations, and now we have an ecological one where water usage is minimal. The most common processing method is Washed, but we also produce small batches of natural and honey processes. At Finca Las Chicharras, we strive to offer workers more than just a workspace; we provide dormitories in good condition, fair wages, and we also have a school within the farm for the workers' children. This school receives donations from our customers and is entirely free for each of them. Visits from our customers and friends have contributed knowledge, and we have shared methods to innovate and improve our coffee quality. Finca Las Chicharras is a young farm with great potential, and all our effort and love are invested in each coffee bean.
