Description
My name is Cruz José Argüello Enríquez, and I am proud to continue the legacy of my family as a fifth-generation coffee producer at Finca Santa Cruz, nestled alongside the Triunfo Biosphere Reserve in La Concordia, Chiapas, at elevations ranging from 1,400 to 1,700 meters above sea level.
Our farm cultivates a diverse array of coffee varieties, including Typica, Bourbon, Maragogype, Yellow Caturra, Marsellesa, Tupy, and Gesha. Several years ago, we embarked on producing specialty coffees, implementing advanced fermentation and storage protocols. By meticulously measuring time, temperature, Brix degrees, and pH, we ensure consistent quality in our coffees year after year.
In 2018, we developed a protocol to produce a natural Gesha, which we replicated in 2019, leading to our participation in the Cup of Excellence competition, where we secured 1st place with a score of 93.07 points. We continued this success by winning 1st place again in 2021 and 2022, and in 2023, our Red Honey Gesha earned 2nd place. These achievements make us the first farm in Mexico to win this competition three times consecutively and secure a second place consecutively.
At Finca Santa Cruz, we are committed to producing some of the best coffees in Mexico, demonstrating that quality is not a matter of chance but the result of dedication and meticulous processes. We continue to innovate and strive for excellence in every cup.
