Sometimes, beauty is seen most clearly through the eyes of a child. That’s how Finca El Hermoso got its name. As Maxito grew up among the trees of Finca La Hermosa, he would walk with us through the fields and point out his favorite places. One day, he stopped, looked out at the misty ridges, and simply said, “This place… it’s hermoso.”
He was right.
Years later, that very spot became its own parcel—now part of our family estate, Finca La Hermosa. We named it after Maxito’s innocent proclamation: El Hermoso—The Beautiful One. It was a child’s truth, and it became our mission: to grow coffee in a place defined not just by volcanic soil and high altitude, but by love, wonder, and the legacy of a boy’s admiration for nature.
Now Maxito helps us harvest. He’s learning cupping, walking rows, checking cherries. The land he named is now his classroom. This coffee is his fingerprint.
In every cup of El Hermoso, you’ll find what he saw that day: the quiet majesty of Acatenango, the softness of family roots, and the dream of a child, made real through the hands of his parents.
