Finca La Esmeralda Agua y Manto is located in Copey de Dota, one of the highest and most exceptional coffee-growing zones in Costa Rica. The project was born from a family tradition rooted in coffee and from a genuine desire to unlock the extraordinary potential of this privileged terroir. From the beginning, the family has approached production as a process of continuous learning — experimenting with varieties and processing methods in search of what each harvest can uniquely express.
The fifth-place finish in the Experimental Fermentation category at Cup of Excellence 2026 is recognition of that ongoing commitment. Every harvest at La Esmeralda is treated as an opportunity to learn more, refine further, and challenge the limits of what the farm is capable of. The combination of exceptional altitude, careful cultivation, and innovative processing has produced a coffee that stands out — and a project that intends to keep standing out.
