Description
Finca El Morito, located in the highlands of Mataquescuintla, Jalapa, was founded in 1994 on land once abundant with wild blackberries, or moras. Today, the farm is managed by Roberto Monterroso, born and raised in the region, whose hands-on approach and deep agronomic knowledge reflect a lifelong commitment to coffee cultivation.
Set between 1,370 and 2,350 meters above sea level, El Morito focuses on producing high quality Arabica through meticulous field management, selective harvesting, and precise processing. A low-impact wet mill enables a range of processes, focused on expressing the character of each lot. Roberto believes that quality is built from the ground up, starting in the soil and care of each plant.
This philosophy has earned El Morito international recognition, including 1st place in the 2022 Cup of Excellence. With most of the farm preserved as forest, sustainability and the pursuit of excellence remain central to its identity.
