Description
Located in the mountains of Mataquescuintla, Guatemala, El Morito traces its roots back to 1994, when we acquired a piece of land named for the abundance of wild blackberries—or moras—that once grew there. From day one, we’ve built our legacy on a foundation of hard work, consistency, and a deep commitment to excellence.
Spanning elevations from 1,370 to 2,350 meters above sea level, our farm cultivates over thirteen distinct Arabica varieties, all grown under natural shade. We operate a low-waste, eco-conscious wet mill designed to handle a range of post-harvest processes, including washed, natural, anaerobic, and other innovative techniques. Sustainability lies at the heart of everything we do: roughly 70% of our land remains forested, with 61% officially designated as preserved forest.
Beyond coffee, our mission extends to community development through social and educational programs that uplift our region. At El Morito, we believe that lasting partnerships and shared values are essential—because together we make coffee better.
