Cup of Excellence
The coffee with which Coopevictoria obtained the 13th place on the Cup of Excellence 2021 comes from Farm Ines, and it is a Geisha variety, both give it its name Geisha Ines. We obtained 6th place on 2020 with this same farm.
Finca Inés is a property of 216 hectares, from which 145 are dedicated to the environmental conservation. It is located on the hillside of the Poás Volcano at between 1600 and 2000 m.a.s.l.
On this farm we have developed a varieties garden in which Geisha has been harvested for over 10 years. During this time, we have managed to complete very interesting investigations to choose the best genotypes that will express the best characteristics on the cup.
The Geisha from the winning lot is 5 years old and is at 1650m.a.s.l. We gave a differentiated agronomical management to this lot, emphasizing on the nutrition that will prevent any pests or deceases.
The coffee was harvested at is optimum stage visually and also using a refractometer to measure the brix degrees, which has to be over 24. Once the coffee is received at the mill the first step is to separate the flouters (in water) And after this the coffee is immediately taken to the drying patios for 24 hours rest in the shadow, moving it every 2 hours during the day. After this first 24 hours, the coffee is move to “parijuelas” or african beds to complete the drying process, again in the shadow and with slight movements during the day. This takes 19 days, approximately.
CoopeVictoria works everyday on making the best coffees possible from our producers to the international costumers. We are very proud with the results of this year’s Cup of Excellence, because we can show and offer this great coffee to the international community and to the most demanding markets of the world.
