Description
The rise of Finca Milán dates back to the late 1800's, under the direction of its former owner, Dr. Pío Romero Bosque, who was President of the Republic from 1927 to 1931. Currently, Finca Milán has remnants of historical infrastructure in disuse that show what was once the prosperity of the farm. There are remains of the mill with washing and fermentation piles, drying patios and the platforms of a cable car that transported the coffee from the lowest part of the farm to the summit, to be exported as coffee in gold.
Dr. Romero Bosque's family kept the property until the 1980's when it was expropriated during the Agrarian Reform that took place in El Salvador, keeping from that moment on only the right of reservation.
In 2010, the current owners bought from the children of Dr. Pío Romero Bosque that right of reservation and began the process of replanting the entire farm, replacing old Bourbon plantations with new varieties such as: Bourbon 300, Catuai, Villa Sarchi, Marseillaise, Pacamara, Gesha, Yellow Amarillo, F1, Obata and traditional Red Bourbon replanting. Subsequently, they acquired plots from neighboring farms, which currently make up a property of 350 manzanas, of which 180 are totally renovated and 88 are planted with Old Bourbon. As a policy of the farm, great attention is paid to the well-being of the workers and the quality of the coffee, not using any type of dangerous pesticide, and equipping the workers daily with uniforms and protective equipment to carry out their tasks
