17 La platanera, 87.8 - Honduras 2021

Gustavo Adolfo Sandoval Díaz is the owner of the Finca La Platanera located at 1387 meters, in the Aldea de Las Piedrecitas, sector of El Porvenir # 1, between the border of Honduras and Nicaragua in the Dipilto mountain range, Department of El Paraíso.

He has owned a farm for 10 years, which he manages with his wife. It began with the cultivation of Lempira and IHCAFE 90; and two years ago he decided to plant 3.5 hectares of the Parainema variety in order to participate in the Cup of Excellence event.

“We maintain 14 permanent employees throughout the year, in the season we have had up to 40 workers. Being one of the main producers that support the community in each of the projects that are given and benefit us all "

Gustavo Adolfo has implemented many practices to improve the cultivation of coffee. The farm was designed with a special technique to protect the soil. He also is very careful to protect the water sources and does not allow any damaged to the trees in order to avoid deforestation. Regarding fertilization, he uses the pulp as organic fertilizer to cover the whole property. It has implemented the strategic placement of bags for the collection of inorganic garbage.
Maintains a percentage of shade between 40 to 45% and uses mainly musaceae, guama and cedar.
Gustavo Adolfo considers that factors such as the cleanliness of the coffee, transportation, the land where it has been planted and the altitude, make his coffee to stand out for its quality characteristics.
