Description

Boa Vista Farm is located in Dom Viçoso, Minas Gerais.
Around 1880, Custódio Teodoro Ribeiro de Carvalho founded Fazenda do Rosário, which covered a significant part of what was then the District of Rosário de Dom Viçoso — still belonging to the municipality of Silvestre Ferraz, now Carmo de Minas. There, Custódio raised dairy cattle and had already begun cultivating coffee.

After his passing in 1952, his daughter Maria Aparecida and her husband, Pedro, inherited the highest section of the property, which they named Boa Vista due to the panoramic view it offers — stretching from the city of São Lourenço to the mountain ranges of Caxambu, Baependi, Cruzília, and Aiuruoca.

On this new property, coffee cultivation began in 1975 with the Catuaí and Mundo Novo varieties. In 1986, the couple divided the farm among their children. Today, production is led by brothers Marcelo and Flávio, who have been tirelessly working to improve the cultivation of Bourbon, Catucaí, Catuaí, and Icatu varieties. Through the adoption of modern and sustainable techniques, the modernization of facilities and equipment, and the training of their workforce, the quality of their coffee has improved year after year.

Beyond better farming and processing practices, the property benefits from excellent coffee-growing land and an average altitude of 1,200 meters — factors that contribute to the excellence of the beverage in its final cup. One could say this is a true terroir — the harmony between soil, climate, and human skill.

As part of their environmental commitment, the farm not only preserves natural springs and expands the Atlantic Forest vegetation along the stream that runs through its land, but is also establishing a reserve of native Brazilian fruit-bearing plants, many of which are rare or even threatened with extinction.
