Description
In 1953, Mrs. María Figueroa de Argueta acquired this land from the municipality of Chiantla. That year, some Typica, Bourbon, and Maragogipe coffee plants were planted, thus beginning coffee cultivation. Later, in 1977, she passed the land to her son, Erwin Modesto Argueta Figueroa, who managed to plant the entire 11.56 acres with varieties such as Caturra, Pache Verde, and Pache Rojo. In 2005, following the creation of the municipality of Unión Cantinil, this farm came under its jurisdiction in the village of La Esperanza.
Since 2005, the farm has been managed by the third generation of the family, Erwin Humberto Argueta Herrera, who has promoted quality-focused coffee cultivation. The farm's production processes are evolving along with staff training, aiming to improve productivity and be environmentally friendly.
In 2012, in response to the coffee rust problem in Guatemala, we sought new ways to market our coffee. This led us to enter the world of specialty coffees, participating in various competitions promoted by Anacafe. In 2014, we were finalists in the Guatemala Cup of Excellence, which motivated us to improve our processes and varieties. After some research, we decided to start a lot with the F1 Centroamericano variety.
