20 El Paraiso, 87.5 - Honduras 2021

Ovidio Gómez Hernández is the owner of Finca El Paraíso, located at 1550 meters, in the village of Las Flores, in the Municipality of Santa Bárbara, Department of Santa Bárbara.
The farm generates employment for 6 people who collaborate permanently and other 20 temporary workers during the harvest season.

He is a very dedicated producer and spends a lot of time taking care of his properties. Currently, Ovidio grows varieties with a good cup profile, such as Pacas, Yellow and Red Catuaí and Parainema.

The farm has a good shade system and protects the ecosystem by planting different varieties of fruit trees and others such as guamo, pines and mahogany. It is also common to find banana plants in the middle of the farm.

Ovidio likes to perform different fermentation experiments with different coffee varieties, to inquire about the resulting cup characteristics. Thus, he decided to participate in this edition with a natural process Parainema.

He is a regular participant in the Cup of Excellence program, and although the previous edition was not held due to the restrictions of the COVID 19 pandemic, he is optimistic about the coffee specially prepared for this year. Ovidio thinks that through this competition he can achieve better prices and recognition of the great work he and his country fellows do to bring up the best coffee in Honduras.
