Overview

Uriel Antonio was born the 10th of Augusto of 1963 in the municipality of Quinchia - Risaralda, he studied until the 5th grade of primary school. Mr. Chiquito is married; he lives with his wife and sons in his faro. Hi got his first knowledge about coffee from his father and grandfather, who always told him the importance if producing good quality coffee. With the intention of improve his conditions as a coffee farmer, he started a training in with the support of the coffee institutions; he made two courses in the Manuel Mejia Foundation, one of Management of Agriculture Enterprises the second one about leadership; other courses of Good Agriculture Practices and Safe Management of plagues in SENA. His farm is the inheritance of his father 30 years ago, with the compromise of being a good quality farmer. He always looks for the extension service’s help to get better ideas about the management of the coffee. He is a great coffee leader in his municipality, today he is the vice-president of the Municipal Coffee Committee, he is one delegate in the Cooperative COOPCAFER, president of the Municipal Commercialization Committee where he is looking up for the well-being of all of the coffee growers. Care of the Environment Coffee farmer in commitment with the environment, in his village he is part of a work group, which is in charge of the protection of the water birth, from where the community takes water for the aqueduct. One of his priorities is the acquisition of land that can provide the water service to the community. He is promoting the preservation of the native wood, because these are the refugees of birds and wild animals. In the coffee process, he uses the ecologic system, approaching the by-products to make compost. Process

FERTILIZATION:

Two applications of chemical fertilizer per year like this: Fist semester 17-6-18-2 dose of 80 grams per tree; second semester 25-4-24 dose of 80 grams per tree; based in the results of the soil analysis.

DISEASES AND PLAGUES CONTROL:

Because of the weather conditions in this land they don’t need to do applications of chemical products for the broca control, so they use cultural practices in the picking like RE-RE (Repaso de Recoleccion) Harvesting Review.
