Overview

Mr. Jorge Elias Castaneda, was born in February 24th of 1948 in the municipality of Campo Hermoso state of Boyaca. Hi studied until 5th grade in primary school and he have being in trainings from SENA -Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje- about organic compost. He started his coffee activity as a familiar tradition. He is the owner of the farm “La Estrella” since 2000, by then it was just 1 hectare of old traditional coffee. The farm “La Estrella” is being in renovation process so today they got 3hr of new coffee trees. Also he is the owner of “El Tesoro” another farm “El Retorno” he got thah in 2003 with 12 ha. The average age’s in 16 lots. Don Jorge Elias Castaneda es casado padre de 4 hijos, con su Empresa cafetera genera empleo para los vecinos de la region y siempre esta atento a mejorar las condiciones para producir cafe de alta calidad, apoyandose en el servicio de extension. De la Federacion Nacional de Cafeteros. Hi is recognize for his leadership; he is the coffee the founder of the group “ASPROCUBARRAL”; he is a member of the Cooperative of Coffee Growers of Meta. Care of the Environment The farm limits with the Natural Reserve “Parque Nacional Natural Sumapaz”, the practices of conservation for the environment are part of the natural context of living for the farmers and neighbours. All of them are working to reduce the negative impact of the activities in their own lands, for example: - Establishment of alive-barriers in the hills with species like Yopo. - Conservation of natural water. - In the process of coffee they use the pulping machine and natural fermentation, the by-products are use to make organic compost. Process FERTILIZATION: applications of organic fertilizer.
