Description

Overview

This hectare of farm is located in Barranca, a community on the north of Naranjo, and situated between 1500 and 1600 meters above sea level, and belongs to Osvaldo Gonzalez Lopez member of Coopronaranjo. In 1970, this community became a coffee growing community bringing economical and social growth to its people. By the end of the 90’s because of the coffee crisis, most of these farmers change and started growing different products and now a days only a few produce coffee, like the Gonzalez and the Torres families, both great coffee producers. productores. Osvaldo Gonzalez Lopez is 40 years old, he is married to Maria del Rocio Vargas Salas and has two sons: Hernan Osvaldo, 16 and Carlos Eduardo 11 years old. At the age of 16, still very young, Osvaldo was given by his father a piece of his coffee plantation, so that he would work on it, since he had drop out of school. Since that moment Osvaldo fell in love with coffee and thanks to his every day effort and tenacity, he now owns almost 4 hectares of land dedicated to coffee plantations, which is their main income and allows them to live a full and very happy life. The blooming starts in May and the harvest during the first week of January and because of the weather and special attention the family gives to the coffee, the coffee develops at once obtaining a perfect ripe bean. This is the first time that Mr. Gonzalez participates in Cup of Excellence and he is very proud of his coffee and this achievement fills him with pride and gives him energy to keep working and shows that all the effort made is been worth it.
