Description

Overview

Eighteen years ago, Regina Meardi de Papini inherited Monte Nevado, or Mount Snowed, a farm located on the top of the Tecapa-Chinameca Mountain range overoking the impressible and emerald lagoon of Alegria. The farm is comprehended by 70 hectares of land, of which 39.9 hectares are planted with coffee. The picking of the winning lot was accomplished the by experienced farm workers that depend on seasonal farm jobs. During the coffee crisis, the farm was almost abandoned and the owners where keeping the farm going only with basic pruning and fertilization. Today, the works on the farm have made it recover and it produces 608 bags (60 Kg). Planted with the traditional Bourbón variety, this farm has already achieved 11th place on 2005 Cup of Excellence, this year proving again it´s privileged condition for coffee growing. The farm is partly shade grown, because there isn’t enough sunlight at the top of the mountain. The farm is located in an area considered a paradise for its great variety of native fauna, you can find a wide selection of small mammals like deer, coyotes, armadillos, raccoons, “tepezcuintles” and a wide selection of birds and butterflies.
