Description

About the

Farm: Farm Don Amado located in the community of El Cielito, Sta. Barbara, Sta. Barbara, Honduras . This is a coffee growing zone with a range of temperatura between 12 and 21°C (which is cool for our country), and rainfall of 1,200 to 2,400mm/year. It is considered a zone for Special coffees. It is next to the National Park of Santa Barbara Mountain, “PANAMOSAB”. It´s climate and volcanic grounds make it ideal to grow coffee and horticulture products and food grains. We have here the Honduran Association of Coffee Producers, the growers of this region have always participated in Cup of Excellence Event. We perform in our farm different coffee growing management activities such as: weed, pest & shade control, fertilizing, selective and sanitary trimming, manual harvesting and wet milling and drying. We began with our family to grow coffee in 1996, growing now Yellow Catuai and Pacas coffee in almost 3 hectares, with an average production of 25 sacks per hectare. About his Family:
His family consists of 4 members, his wife, 2 kids and himself.

What is the secret of your success?

To give a proper management to the coffee plantation, following technical recommendations. Have special care during wet mill and coffee drying processes. How do you feel being a winner of the Cup of Excellence Honduras 2010? We have always considered that participating in the cup of excellence competition has been a big challenge. I feel proud because I contribute to promoting my country and to elevate our coffee growing regions.

His experience in the Cup of Excellence:

He has participated in 2 competitions of this event, but thanks to God and to the support of my family, this year I was able to win first place of the Honduran Cup of Excellence.
