Description
Overview
This farm was affectionately named after my mother in-law, MINA (whose legal name was Guillermina), because of international trade mark registrations of another farm in another country with the same name but different meaning we cannot sell coffee under this mark. Therefore, we call it what MINAs grandchildren called her, MAMA MINA. My grandfather was an immigrant to Nicaragua in the late 1800s and he began coffee farming. Now my sons and daughters are involved in coffee. It is a great joy to have something that can bring us closer. My late wifes farm (El Limoncillo) was the 3erd Place winner of the Cup of Excellence Nicaragua last year with a JavaNica varietal. There are no secrets just hard work and a little luck. Picking ripe cherries, careful processing, and the gift of the micro climate. I am honored and humbled to have won. I know how much work all farmers in Nicaragua put into their farms. I know that every year coffee quality is increasing so the competition becomes tougher to win.
