Before de plantar every coffee plant, the soil is prepared with organic fertilizer and special techniques to preserve the soil. At Miraflores all coffee is under shade trees, handled carefully to prevent diseases on the coffee plants. Mr. Salazar applies organic fertilizer, every two years, to the complete coffee plantation. Miraflores was funded on 1974 for its current owner Mr. Baudilio Salazar Miron. On the beginning he received from his father 3.44 acres where he and his wife begun the coffee plantation. During the following years they bought other small areas closer to Miraflores; and now 36 years later they have 41 acres producing high quality coffee. Miraflores is managed by Mr. Baudilio Salazar Miron, who applies all the knowledge and experience acquire with his years as coffee farmer and during his years working in the parenthood coffee farm. Mr. Salazar also receives support from his son, who also has coffee experience and knowledge acquire as Engineer Agronomo. The production is from 175 to 250 quintals per acre manzana. During harvest season the pickers realize two or three cuts, picking only the high quality beans. The employees for that season come from Quiche and we provide them with a special place to live. We are concern for environment, so coffee is processed in an organic wet mill located in a neighbor coffee farm. The wet mill is modern and with a recirculation water system, and with a treatment water plant; they used the pulp to produced organic fertilizer. Actually we are making some research to use different products to fill the almacigos, to reduce the amount of earth take from the soil. As we know that water is an important source, we plant bamboo to preserve a beautiful river that goes from North to South in Miraflores. In the farm there are also natural forests of pine and cypress.
