Description
Overview
La Pia is a small farm located in Palencia, Guatemala . We are really concern about the environment that is why 50% of our property is a protected natural forest. The coffee plantation begins at 6,000 to 6,500 feet over sea level. The farm was funded in 1954 as part of El Durazno farm, a big land donated by Carlos Castillo Armas, President of Guatemala in 1954, to the people of Palencia. The first owner was the Cante family, who worked producing vegetables until 1980, when the farm was sold to the Reyes family, who began the coffee plantation. In 2007 I bought La Pia, being the first generation of my family working on the farm. I hope that my son will continue as coffee producer. Regarding quality we select only the best beans, followed by a careful process of the coffee in the wet mill. During the process we supervise that only high quality beans continue to the patios to be sun dried.
