Information:
BU Farm located in El Cielito, Sta. Barbara, Sta. Barbara a region were coffee is the main product, as well as corn, beans and fruits. This is a coffee growing zone with a great temperature range between 12 and 21°C, and rainfall of 1,200 to 2,400mm/year. It is considered a zone for Special coffees. It is next to the National Park of Santa Barbara Mountain, “PANAMOSAB”. Pompilio belongs to a group called Specialty Coffees “Cielito Lindo” and he also forms part of the Honduran Association of Coffee Growers (AHPROCAFE). This region has been widely known for their participation in the cup of Excellence Event every year. This year 16 of the 25 lots that made it to the auction come from this particular zone. This farm performs different coffee growing management activities such as: weed, pest & shade control, fertilizing, selective and sanitary trimming, manual harvesting and wet milling and drying. Pompilio began growing coffee in 1990, with a small lot, now he owns 5 hectares of coffee farm.

What is the secret of your success?

To keep in mind coffee management recommendations and techniques, from the moment the coffee is planted to its final process as green coffee. How do you feel being a winner of the Cup of Excellence Honduras 2010? First of all it is a way to show off my coffee’s quality, our coffee associations and promote my country.
