The Mierisch family is donating the auction premium from this coffee to causes that are close to our hearts. 50% will go the Escuala de Internos Hossanna orphanage in Nicaragua and the other 50% to Ricardo Espitia and his family for his continued care. Escuela de Internos Hosanna has been a safe haven for 30-plus underprivileged children since February 2007. The center has taken children out of extreme poverty, abusive homes, and other unhealthy living conditions provided them with a nurturing environment where they can develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. Ricardo Espitia has generously dedicated much of his life paving the road from a commodity to a specialty coffee world. Though flying his country’s flag, El Salvador , he unselfishly helped many other Central Americans obtain quality coffee and higher prices while working on initiatives to increase internal consumption in their countries. His work is a motivation to us all to continue our fight to achieve our shared goals. Ricardos health does not allow him to actively work in coffee. But as a token of our appreciation for his inspiring work, we humbly offer Ricardo and his family a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this coffee. Thank you Ricardo.
