Name and Location of Farm:
The Farm Maria is located the community of Las Nubes, Dipilto municipality about 31 km from the head of department (Ocotal) with a height of 1.310 meters over sea level. This property is has a shade management system do not apply chemicals to the soil and conserves water resources, also has also a forest reserve and is situated on the fringe where broadleaved forest starts reserve Dipilto-Jalapa.
Tell us the story of your Farm:
I acquired the farm through a purchase Dona Berta Somarriba 30 years ago, all we had was grass seed, then there was war in the region. Later I began to grow coffee in 1996 with an area of 5 acres all coffee. I am currently harvesting a quantity of 100 quintals, with the varieties of caturra, mara and catuai.
Family Generations:
The family consists of 6 members, 4 children age 10 years old, 21 year old and 32 years old
What is your secret for winning the competition?
1 - First the good quality coffee 2 - Good agricultural practices (cutting and Wet) 3 Picking and wash the coffee at time
How do you feel to be a winner?
I feel fortunate to have won a prize to keep producing the best coffee of Dipilto and achieve the goals we set every year to continue to improve production practices of a specialty coffee produced with much enthusiasm to the final consumer.

The Farm La Guadalupana is located in the community of Las Nubes, Dipilto municipality, about 33 km from the head of department (Ocotal) with a height of 1350 meters above sea level in the range Dipilto-Jalapa inboard of a protected by a number of species of animals like squirrels, deer, etc. Tell us the story of your farm: Farm La Guadalupana was purchased from the Development Bank in 1992. Then was only grass, picking the first harvest in 1998. In this time I had 10 acres and now I have 25 acres with a production of 320 quintals of variety Maracaturra. Family generations: The family consists of 10 members, all relatives I have no children but we all work the farm.
What is your secret for winning the competition?
1 - First, the secret is good quality of coffee 2 - picking the best coffee 3 Picking and wash the coffee at time 4 Wet mill and bagging at time.
How do you feel to be a winner?
Thank God I feel good and proud to represent the coffee of Nueva Segovia nationally and internationally.
