Description

History of the farm:

_The property Sítio Gerais is situated in Piatã, Chapada Diamantina-BA. Mr. José Santana Silva was born and lives with his family on the property that he acquired through the inheritance left by his parents, caring in a special way for his coffee to maintain the quality, as he consumes his own product, which goes fromthe farmdirectly to his table.

Coffee processing system:

_The harvest is done manually by workers who are close to 90% women, known in the region as coffee “panhadeiras.” The coffee cherries, selectively picked, are sent directly to the pulping machine. After this process, the coffee is taken to the patio where it is spread leaving a layer of approximately 3 cm (1.2 in) and raked several times per day. After drying, the coffee is sent to a warehouse in environmental conditions favorable to storage.

Concern about quality:

_The owner seeks to be responsible with coffee production, in order not to alter its quality after being taken from the tree, beginning with the adequate preparation of the land, performing annual soil analyses, to thus be able to start and care for the coffee from the planting to its processing, through technical monitoring in partnership with the Municipal Secretary of Agriculture, who makes facilitating resources available in order to obtain a good harvest, quality fruits and a differentiated price.
