Description

Overview:

I was born in “La Florida”, Narino on July 25th of 1961. My father, Zacarias Villarreal Burbano, built his home and family with the incomes provided by the coffee crop. My childhood was spent between the school and all the tasks of the crop; my brothers and me liked a lot to go to the farm and that was how between games and jobs I learnt to love this crop.
When I was 19 years old I had the opportunity of acquiring a farm called “La Playa”. It was an old coffee farm, traditionally sowed with Typica coffee, so I renewed it with Caturra variety with the resources of a credit given by the disappeared “Caja Agraria”.When I was 22 years old I met a wonderful woman, Eraida Ortega Salas, and as it is said, it was love at first sight. We had a one year engagement, then we got married and from this union there were born our loved children Anacelly and Andres and we have also the blessing of a beautiful grandchild, for whom we still continue fighting to be able to offer them a professional formation.
As farmers we have traveled through a hard road marked by inclement weather and sometimes low prices, but with tenacity, hard work, the help of God and the constant assistance of the Colombia n Coffee Growers Federation we were able to move on. We enlarged the farm buying neighboring coffee lands and the most important thing is that we are producing a high quality coffee with sustainability, taking care of the environment, keeping the social and economic principles. As a result of that, two years ago under the Nespresso AAA program we got the Rainforest Alliance seal, an effort of an entire family.
