Description

Overview:

I am an indigenous from the municipality of Caloto located in Cauca. I am the only son of my parent’s marriage, the mayor Porfirio Dagua and the mayor Carmen Fernandez. Since I was a little kid my parents taught me how to work the “Pachamama” (Mother Earth). This farm is the inheritance that my father left me and where it has always been planted coffee since the moment they bought it.
My family is composed by my mother, my wife and 10 children in addition to my 5 grandchildren.
I have belonged to the Municipal Coffee Growers Committee since 1995 and currently I am the president of it. I have also been a leader of my village occupying positions of responsibility and currently I am the treasurer.
Thanks to God’s blessings and to the work that I have done with coffee, I have fed and educated my family. Currently I have 23.000 coffee plants in average, 70% of the farm is renovated with Castillo variety and the 30% remained I conserved it with Colombia variety. I also conserve some trees that provide shadow to the coffee cultivation and it that way it maintain the freshness and conserve wildlife.
I am and will continue being a coffee farmer and in that way I can show to my family and to the native community where I belong to, that with the coffee crop and with the good deal and conservation of the Pachamama, it will always give us triumphs and satisfactory results.
