Description
Overview
This farm has belonged to the Hernandez Padilla Family for 45 years. In the past, it was dedicated to pasture. Nowadays, 7 acres of land are cultivated with Arabican coffee. Twenty years ago, Mr. Franklin Hernandez Padillas father, Mr. Rafael Garro, decided to divide the original 13 acres of farm in two: 4 acres to Mrs. Anita Padilla Solis, his spouse, and the other 9 acres to his sons: Ronny and Franklin. Los Higuitos farm is managed by Mr. Franklin and Mr. Ronny Hernandez Padilla, coffee producers who are dedicated to this land to obtain a high quality and prestigious coffee. This farm is at 1600 meters above sea level, in the Tarrazu Coffee Region, located specifically in San Cristobal Sur of Desamparados. The coffee area sown is 9 acres of caturra and catuahi varieties.
At the beginning, this property used to be called Rafaelillos Farm in honor of its former owner, Mr. Rafael Garro. Then, the two brothers with their mothers agreement, decided to change the name into Los Higuitos Farm, because of the fig trees planted on the property. The Hernandez Padilla brothers aim is to continue growing coffee and to give the farm a better care, in order to produce coffee of a higher quality. Thanks to ASOPROAAA´s support in the whole coffee process this has been able to maintain. It is milled at ASOPROAAA, 100% washed process and sun dried on African beds.
