Overview

La Esmeralda is located at the Poas Volcano slopes in Alajuela and is part of the coffee producing area processed by La Guaria Mill. This is a family company with a big coffee legacy since 1850 and nowadays is run by the fifth generation, Mr. Carlos and Mr. Francisco Flores Nigini whom participate on all the agricultural activities of the company. The wonderful characteristics of these volcanic soils, combined with an altitude of 1400-1600 meters above sea level, as well as picking the cherries at its ripest, help us get a coffee with an excellent aroma, good body and distinct acidity. Our company’s goal is to offer a high quality coffee, which comes only from our farms, where we have caturra and red catuai varieties.
Our coffee is pulped on the dry phase and then the desmulcinage is mechanically washed followed by a mechanical or sun pre dried phase and a final dried process on the Guardiola.
