Description

Overview

Santa Alicia farm is located in the San Salvador Volcano in the department of La Libertad with an altitude from 1200 to 1590 meters with a variety of Bourbón and Pacamara, (most of it being Bourbón). The closest city is the city of Santa Tecla which is approximately 10 km away. Brief story of the farmSince the early 1900’s coffee has been the passion of our family since Roberto Quinonez Schlesinger was the first Minister of Agriculture, who led El Salvador to be one of the largest exporters of coffee in the world. The philosophy in the family was to grow as much coffee as you can in as little as land as possible. Five years ago under new management that philosophy changed to also growing better coffee, we started to treat the soil and plants giving it all the natural components needed for it to improve in taste, aroma and body.
The coffee of this farm especially the best was kept for personal use only. Until now 2010 that it was decided it was time to enter the cup of excellence to see if all the hard work had paid off. The farm scored an 85.29 the effort will continue. What is the secret for winning the cup? Passion and love of the work it takes to grow an outstanding cup of coffee

How do you feel to be a winner?

This is the second time we have entered the cup of excellence and we feel pride in our roots and our heritage as coffee growers. We feel honored that our coffee has been selected and will continue to add coffee from our other farms to the Cup of Excellence competition.
What do you think of the cup of excellence? The Cup of Excellence has come to inspire the coffee growers in El Salvador , when we needed it most, after a poorly instated land reform almost wiped out all Salvadorean agriculture. The contest has driven the country as a whole to work toward better standards in our coffee in all its aspects from the tree to table. Family generations.
We have been in the coffee industry for four generations since Roberto Quinonez Schlesinger who as Minister of agriculture planted most of the farms we have in our extended family to date, most of which have entered the contest.
