Description

This coffee washing station is supporting coffee farmers in nurseries’ installation, training them in agricultural best practices in order to increase productivity and quality. Coffee cherry collection, pulping, fermentation, washing (removing sugar), skin drying, final drying and storage before transport to the dry mill are done with a monitoring system to ensure traceability and separation in sustainable manner throughout all the chain (from the farm to the dry mill). Nemba coffee is unique from the high altitude. 95 % of the coffee farms are located highly on 1700m altitude above the sea level nearby the Kibila forest mountains. The flavor is chocolate in general.

The Bourbón variety is predominant with all its attributes for high quality of coffee production and the very good yield.

Tasting Nemba coffee you will enjoy the very high quality of Burundi coffee commonly called « NGOMA coffee » from the thousands and one hills of the heart of Africa.

From 1991, its impact is valuable and measurable in the rural development in the sector of housing, education, nature resource conservation and protection.

Nemba Wet mill is located in the province and commune of Kayanza in Nyabihogo Zone on about 91 km from BUJUMBURA you turn left and walk 5 Km ahead. It’s one of the 5 wet mills of RUVUBU Café Company member of WEBCOR Burundi S.A

The soil in the hills around the wet mill is mixed with volcanic soils in general and the average of rainfall around 1300mm per year.

There are more than 200 drying tables. Coffee processing capacity: 750 Mt of cherry. All coffee farmers are smallholders with small scale of coffee land for 330 coffee trees average each. It has 2 910 coffee farmers with a potential number of 960 236 coffee trees.
