Description

I was born in Bruselas, Huila on July 8th of 1959. As a child I felt great love for the fields since my parents are traditionally coffee producers, at the age of 16 in the company of one of my brothers, we were attending a local of clothing sales in town, unfortunately years later mu brother passed away and the business came under my responsibility, for several years I engaged in the business but my dream was always to have my own coffee farm.

I had the opportunity to meet Jhony Melo who is my husband today, along with him in the year 1994 and thanks to the profits of the business sale, together with my brother-in-la we bought a farm in the village Guandinosa, fortunately the society worked very well and that farm gave us profits enough to buy another property in the same village.

In the year 1997, we decided to be independent, he took the farm we bought with the profit of the first sale, and we keep the farm Buena Vista that is the one that we live on right now. I am the mother of a single child to whom I hope to give all my support so he can be a professional in agriculture in the future and can possibly help me with a good administration of the farm.

My family and I, we are very respectful with the environment and we like to do activities for conservation, our farm in Rainforest certified and we are also part of the associative group “Café Andino Especial” of Bruselas. The farm is 3.5 hectares in coffee, most of the farm is planted in caturra variety and is in good shape thanks to the timely control and management against rust that we made.

One of my big dreams was to participate in the Cup of Excellence competition and this year I had the opportunity of participate for the first time and be part of the 14th best coffees of Colombia , I thank god for this achievement and together with my family we will keep hard working to improve the quality of our coffee and to obtain with dedications and constancy the first levels, thinking that the quality is aim doing the right things at the farm level.
