Description

Santa Lucía has been participating in COE Costa Rica since its beginnings in 2007.

It is an organic farm, certified by Control Union under the NOP, EU and JAS standards, and we are also Certified Carbon Neutral. Besides coffee we also produce banana, lemons and avocado. Located at the height of 1700 meters above sea level, the average Celsius temperature is 22º and the rainfall is 2500 mm. We produce Caturra, Villalobos, Typica and Catuaí varieties and we are now experimenting with Gesha and Bourbón.

We think we have significantly improved the quality of our coffee, since we have renovated 40% of the area and also increased the inoculations of microorganisms resulting in a more consistent cup.

We have worked an organic production for over 15 years and we have gone through very difficult economical times. But, we have managed, with a lot of sacrifices, to get through and above all we have been able to instill an environmental and sustainable awareness in whole family.

The name of the farm is dedicated to Santa Lucia, a martyr of the Catholic Church, who defended her faith with her view. I have had sight problems since my birth and also mi oldest daughter is named Lucía.

We thank Cup of Excellence for putting our name out there; with our participation in this program we have been able to show the world our great quality and particularities. We are now known and recognized everywhere. COE has been the spearhead for our sales and is very important to our customers that we take part in this program; this means we maintain the quality harvest after harvest.

My dream is to win Cup of Excellence and give the great satisfaction to my parents who have always supported me and given their life to coffee.
