Description

In 1964, Mr. Efrain Naranjo, started his life beside a coffee plantation. His parents were in charge of the harvest, maintenance and production of their coffee plantations along with his 17 siblings. All the family will help during the harvest which was picked under very strict norms, only ripe coffee, “the cherries must be like purple grapes” he remember his father telling them. When he was only 14 years old, his father gave him a small piece of land, so he can learn the business and experience the beauty of the coffee world. As an anecdote he remembers when his mother used to sew small bags that will only hold 20 cherries for his younger siblings to help.

For different reasons, he spent 10 years without producing coffee. He had to sell all his properties and migrate to the USA looking for ways to support his family, but he always had the dream of coming back to work the land. Thanks to all this efforts, in 2004, he bought an abandoned field that far from being an obstacle became an opportunity for growth, and that land is Finca Macho. The name of the farm comes from his nickname “Macho”. Nowadays, at Los Santos, Mr. Efrain is known as “Macho Naranjo”

His oldest son Gelbert has been helping Mr. Efrain by managing and maintaining the farm. Thanks to this effort and dedication, Gelbert is know also part of this project called Santa Rosa 1900 a micromill that was created 7 years ago.
