Description

El Nacimiento #2 farm is owned by Fanny Moreno and is located in El Cielito community in the municipality of Santa Bárbara, Department of Santa Bárbara. It has an altitude of 1,650 meters above sea level.

I have this farm ten years ago and I inherit it from my father, I work this farm with my husband, we have two daughters and one son.  Besides me and my husband we have two permanent employees to do the maintenance activities and during the harvest season hire almost 20 temporary employees.

We put special attention on soil health.  We are planting timber trees such as Cedar and mahogany.  We have 20% shade with guama species.

I generally use organic fertilization (coffee pulp) and two chemical fertilizations by year. Because we had the well nourished plantation and the height had no rust attack.  The management of the farm is semi-technical but with little use of chemical products.

What is the secret for winning this competition (describe the preparation process of the competing lot)?
We are privileged to live in Honduras , our soil is special we just employ all our effort, and implement the proper methods to process the grains.

It’s an indescribable emotion, I am optimistic and anxious to continue participating in the competitions, I am very motivated to make the difference.  COE strives to create a difference, I feel motivated to be better in the business focused on high quality coffee production, and implant the best methods in the process. At the same time is an opportunity to receive economic benefits and improve our quality of life. In addition to this we can know and share experiences with members of the coffee industry worldwide.

Is my first time as a COE participant and, I got the fourth place in this competition.
