Description
El Retiro was founded in 1965. During the first 12 years it was a 5 hectares finca that belonged to Francisco Hernandez. In 1977 was sold to Santiago Argüello Velasco and was expanded through the years to reach 250 hectares. In 1985 only 55 hectares were destined for high quality coffee, the rest is a private reserve for taking care of the environment. Nowadays the finca is managed by Rosaura Argüello, daughter of one of the sons of Mr. Santiago Argüello.
We feel really proud of seeing the entire family tradition in cultivating coffee rewarded and above all knowing that there is a market for our coffee where the buyers appreciate and pay our efforts. This is giving us certainty for growing coffee for many more years.
