Description

Catalino is a specialty young coffee producer from La Peñita – Santiago de Puringla. A very entusiathic man who was in the business since he was a child, is a leader on his community, promoting good helth and implementing quality proceses. His production is a 100% organic, of varieties such as Caturra, Catuaí, Typica and Pacas.

Since his both parents passed away, he is the main responsible of his siblings; Mr. Catalino is working hard to give education to his younger sisters and brother, and to supply his family needs. He has 5 sisters, 2 brothers, and a pretty cute niece and nephew. All the family works in the farm, they are the 3rd. generation of coffee producers, they tell us “We grew up playing between coffee trees, for us coffee mean: health, education, home, food is our only resource of income; that is why we love and care our farm”.

As soon as Catalino was in charge of the farm, he learned how to be organic, and now he is certified as Organic, Fair Trade, Utz and member of the protected designation of origin (PDO) Café Marcala; he is convinced that it is the best way to produce and compete. He has been participant of Cup of Excellence participant for 4 years, now he have clients in E.U, Japan, Australia, and others, he sell his coffee through export organization like COMSA and Raos Cooperative.

For now they are doing the wet and dry mill into the farm; they have a small depulper machine, a patio and two solar dryers.

We asked Catalino about his secret, and he said:

I don´t have a secret, we just put a lot of dedication and love in what we do. God gave us the best land, we just have to make the right processes on time.
