Gibran Cervantes purchased a parcel of a bit larger than 1 hectare in 2006 with the objective of developing an organic farm that were able to feed his family in a healthy way. Along with this project, with his wife and other parents they fund the school Bios Lilá Montesori with the purpose of having a place for their children development conscious of the world. The agro ecological biodynamic ranch El Equimite was growing in extension with the support of his parents, little by little, restoring the eroded soils damaged by cattle practices that were a common activity for many years that displaced the cloud forest and the shade grown coffee. While he was learning about organic agriculture and food production with his family, he began to dream about restoring life to this land, dreaming and designing, step by step, a sustainable integral project with six main guidelines: conservation,  agriculture, education (eco-pedagogy), refuge (bio-construction), community, health (natural medicine). The land was immerse in an ancient coffee area and had coffee trees abandoned that were, many decades ago, very productive. During the last three years, we have been rehabilitating the coffee plantation by applying biodynamic techniques focused on soils recovering and trees nourishment, all this in a natural way and with a deep respect for the ecosystem. Additionally, we began this year to renovate the oldest coffee trees using a plantation design based on the keyline (harvest of water and soul) that allows using the water at the maximum level, promote soils fertility and avoid erosion. Among the conservation strategies and cloud forest restoration, we are in a design stage of an Eco lodge, that will allow to our visitors to have experiences through singular and authentic activities around the coffee culture (processing from seed to cup) focused on specialty coffee, single origin, sustainable finca and micro-lots.
