Fila Alta - Nicaragua 2014 Verified listing

 Name and Location of the Farm:

The farm Fila Alta is located in the Municipality of Mozonte - Nueva Segovia, in the Community of Volcancitos. In a protected area the Mountain Range Dipilto – Jalapa… In the farm are 7 Apples of land from which are 3 of coffee plantations. The shadow majority are Guaba trees and some bananas. Other crops that we have are taro stems, quequisque, orange, lemon, chayote, avocado and we also have flowers. At the bottom of the farm, flows the Margajitoso river, from which we observe different streams of water with an average length of 220 meters.

Regarding wildlife, we have observed mountain hogs, armadillos (Piteros), deer, Congo Monkeys, mountain cats, Quetzals, Chachalacas, wild hen, Goldfinch, Picons and Ululas. The Family income is based on agriculture, planting corn, beans, and potatos for family consumption. And raising chickens.

The Farm History:

I´m the owner since four years ago. The farm has seven Apples of land, and is in production of coffee 3 of them, the annual production is 75 QQ. In this Farm are produce the coffee varieties of Red Catuai and we, also produce Bananas, sweet lemon, lemon and orange.

Family Generations:

I was adopted when I was a child, I had eight years old by Mr. Manuel de Jesus lopez Amaya and his wife Mrs. Maria de Jesus Pastrana Hernandez. Who both since then taught me to work and to farm. In 2009 they gave me a part of land from the Farm “La Esperanza”, at which I named “Fila Alta”. I started to cultivate 3 Apples of land of Red Catuai, for this crop 2013/2014 it is the second one crop.

What is your secret for winning the competition?

It is having faith and trust always in God, and to accept capacity that only He gives us to work and have a good management in the Farm.

How do you feel to have been a winner?

I feel very happy, excited and gratefully with God because of this miracle that He has done.

What do you think about the Cup of Excellence?
