Description

Fazenda Boa Vista was bought in 1998. Since 2003, it has been working with specialty coffees and investing in worker education. Its total area is 96 hectares. The elevation varies from 1100 to 1300 meters. In the beginning work was difficult; the land was rough and full of rattlesnakes.

Each year the owners planted some coffee and today there are 43 hectares with the following varieties divided into plots: catuai 99, topázio, obatã, catucaí, Bourbón, tupi, mundo novo and Acaiá.

The farm’s infrastructure is still under construction and processing is done at the farm. They participate in Certifica Minas, and seek to produce coffee with all the care it deserves, from planting to the bean’s arrival on the patio.

The region where the farm is located is great for producing co ee, and now with the Geographical Indication and the help of AMSC (Alta Mogiana Specialty Coffee Association), the farm can now sell its coffee for a better price and add value to the product. The idea is go leave an excellent product for future generations.

The farm is managed by Luiz Gustavo and his parents.

Concern about quality

We have had Certifica Minas since 2008. We harvest coffee by separate variety and plot, beginning picking with the lowest percentage of green cherries.

Workers are trained to avoid quality loss during drying and the patios are cement.

They use an integrated system of pest and disease management that enables the to control and decrease the use of pesticides.

The farm complies with environmental legislation, favoring the property’s ecosystem.
