Farmer’s Biography

Herley Rojas Álvarez has dedicated the 35 years of his life to coffee growing. His parents were who transmitted him the love and commitment to coffee and raised him in such a way that now he is one of the many coffee growers who bet on high quality.

It is the second time he takes part in such a competition as Cup of Excellence, and this year he managed to qualify for the first time to an international auction.

Mr. Rojas was born in Planadas, a municipality that has always been his place of residence and where he has continuously worked the land not only for coffee but to grow other products.

He is the father of two children, aged 2 and 6, to whom he seeks to provide a good future, aiming at transmitting them the knowledge and experiences lived with the bean.

This man, who only attended primary school until 5^th grade, says that a competition like Cup of Excellence is a great opportunity to “learn to value coffee and work for quality.”
