Description

Created in 2008 and initiated by a group of 30 women residents of Sholi Cell, Cyeza Sector, Muhanga District, in Southern Province, the Cooperative “ABATERANINKUNGA BA SHOLI” grows coffee and wash it. It was officially registered by the Rwanda cooperative agency in 2013 and currently it has 332 registered members, 217 of them are women. The cooperative is supplied by members with cherries harvested into their own Arabica Bourbón coffee farms but also the CWS own two small coffee plantation sizing of 2 hectares with 1200 coffee trees, and 8000 coffee trees  plantation received as donation from Cyeza Sector.

The quality of our coffee

The unique taste and flavor is a result of our tireless monitoring of the growing and processing processes. Our coffee trees are sustainably and eco-friendly grown, mulched and pruned each season with our members who selectively harvest the ripened cherries and supply them to CWS. From there any defected cherries are removed through careful hand picking selection and floating process. High quality cherries are processed, cleaned and dried.  And this is their second Cup of Excellence competition and awarded in 2014 and this year 2015
