Description

BACKGROUND OF COCAGI

COCAGI is a coffee farmer cooperative created in 2004 and engaged in coffee growing and coffee processing. Its coffee washing station providing jobs for many local women and work with its members from different administrative Sectors as Nzahaha, the sector recognized for having the highest amount of coffee trees in the country but also members grow coffee in Rwimbogo, Gashonga and Gitambi sectors of Rusizi districts. This area is among the region of Rwanda where the high altitude combined with volcanic soils give a unique flavor and taste to the coffee. Together with Rwashoscco (the umbrella which groups different cooperatives that produce specialty coffee and assist them for marketing and export) the cooperative strive to support other producers, regardless of the amount of coffee they grow. COCAGI is certified Fairtrade since 2005 and since this date it started exporting certified coffee in the same year.

Guarantying best Graded Arabica Bourbón coffees

COCAGI places a high value on each individual’s contribution to the coffee that it supplies to the world of coffee consumers. Its central washing station collects and processes cherries from members through wet mill process. Before processing starts, cherries are carefully selected to remove defected cherries. Our coffee combine the body, flavor and aroma that coffee drinkers would wish to taste. Today members of COCAGI are currently happy to appear among the 2015 Cup of Excellence competitions for the first time as winner of the 15th prize and are committed no longer to lose this motivating opportunity
