Description

Maraba I Cyarumbo CWS was built in 2001 with a capacity to process 500 MT of cherries and started to be operational in 2002. Like other Maraba CWS, it is owned by ABAHUZAMUGAMBI BA KAWA cooperative comprised of coffee farmers in Huye District. Maraba I Cyarumbo is supplied by coffee farmers located into two sectors namely Simbi and Maraba sectors which are divided into 3 zones: Simbi zone with 171 members, 166 Cyendajuru in Simbi sector and Cyarumbo zone with 188 members in Maraba sector. Among all those members women account for around 40%. For their promotion and marketing the cooperative is under RWASHOSCCO which is an umbrella grouping a number of cooperatives to assist those small holders farmers cooperative to market, and export their coffee

Quality development processes

Maraba I CWS major goal is to deliver to coffee consumer a high quality fully washed Arabica coffee with a unique flavor resulting from our consistency through modern wet processing techniques. Maraba coffee is known for the highest quality coffee which is prepared through a rigorous process that involve best practices from the farms, harvesting and the processing processes. We have adopted the wet processing techniques to produce a parchment coffee that have a special flavour! This is achieved through a careful control of different stages at our processing unit.
