History of the farm

For over five years Fazenda Dom Silvério has been run by Mr. José Ermelindo Miranda, who has been concentrating his efforts on improving coffee quality. Riparian forests and springs abound on the property and it is part of a buffer area of the Serra do Brigadeiro State Park. The farm is located on the BR 482 highway about 2 km from the city center. The area features lush scenery. The temperature in the region varies from 18 to 22°C and features very fertile yellowish red soil. The property is managed in a sharecropping system and the partners are literate and guaranteed schooling and a dignified life for themselves and their children through training and aggregating value to the quality of the coffee.

Coffee processing system

The harvest is done by hand, seeking to create jobs. After harvesting the coffee is washed, passing through the pulper. Next the beans are taken for drying on cement patios, then they are separated according to quality. After drying,  the separated lots are kept in rest boxes to be commercialized later.

Concern about quality

The farm spares no effort in the search for technical information, ensuring continuous improvement to its main product: coffee. These efforts include selective harvests, drying in lots and complete dedicate by the workers who handle drying on the patios. Hygiene is indispensable at all phases, as are responsibility to the environment and respect for all partners involved.
