DUSUBIZITEKIKAWA COOPERATIVE : lot # 13
This cooperative is located in Buyengero Region (Group 2) : Café du Buyengero
Buyengero is a commune of Rumonge province in Southwestern Burundi. Buyengero commune is mainly located on the Congo-Nile Crater Mountains. It is at the top of the mountains that suplomber Tanganyika Lake at the altitude of 1600 m. Its soil pedology is mainly made of lime rock with a high potentiality of fertility. People never apply fertilizer either for food crops or cash crops. The coffee from this area has a high potential either in taste or in the size screen of grain. The coffee from this area is scoring high during local and regional competition these days. COCOCA Union count a number of five cooperatives concentrated in the area namely: Dusubizitekikawa, Umuco w’ikawa, Kawa vumera, Kawazamurabawe and Duteritekikawa.

| History | The cooperative Dusubizitekikawa was created in 2013 by Smallholder coffee farmers. The cooperative built the washing station in 2015. During the year 2015, the cooperative adhered in the Union of the cooperatives of coffee growers known as COCOCA’ because of the services it renders to its members. It counts for the moment 378 actual members who deliver their productions in their conversion facility.
All these are small holder coffee farmers. They themselves deliver their cherries to the washing. |
