Description

History of the farm

Chácara Capãozinho is located in the city of Piatã, BA, in the Chapada Diamantina region, with coffee planted at an average altitude of 1321 m.a.s.l. where the climate is characteristic and unique, ideal for the production of super quality specialty coffees.Chácara Capãozinho is part of Fazenda União, which is a family group in which patriarch João Florentino Barbosa donated areas for his sons, Glayco Barbosa and Ramone Barbosa, to cultivate coffee. After finishing his undergraduate studies in Agrinomic Engineering, Glayco dedicated the entire area to the production of excellent quality lots. The farm has produced coffee for over 35 years and in the past 10 years Glayco has focused on producing specialty coffees.

Coffee processing system

The harvest is selective and done by hand. Only the ripe coffee cherries are picked. The freshly-picked coffee is taken to the washer, the defective beans are separated, and it is pulped. Drying is done on covered patios where the coffee is raked every 30 to 50 minutes for uniform drying and to prevent fermentation. This process lasts from 8 to 10 days until the coffee reaches 12% moisture. Then it is identified and warehoused in daily lots in a well-ventilated place.

Concern about quality

With the increase in productivity through the correct use of agronomic techniques, investments have been made in opening an artesian well to install a drip irrigation system in the fields (currently functioning) and construction of a covered patio to guarantee the quality of the lots produced. African beds are planned for the 2018/2019 harvest.
