Description

This farm has been the main economic income for this family and the education of my children. The La Laguna farm has about fifteen years of belonging to the Araya Cruz family; It was acquired through an inheritance to my wife Leticia Cruz.
It is located at 1800 meters above sea level, at Cerro La Pastora, in San Marcos de Tarrazú.

From the beginning I gave myself the task of planting and cultivating this property, which was an abandoned paddock whose characteristics were suitable for coffee planting.

It wasn’t easy, we had to overcome many difficult situations. After 15 years of hard work, I see my effort rewarded thank to Cup of Excellence competition.
During the harvest season and throughout the whole year my family has been a fundamental pillar and support. Five years ago, with the purpose of ensuring a better quality and making one of the dreams come true, we founded our own micro-mill, which is the place where we process the coffee of La Laguna farm (“The Lagoon”) with the participation of the members of the family.

This coffee is a honey process and sun-dried in the African beds. In addition, its harvest during the dry season was done by people from neighboring countries such as Nicaragua, as part of our social commitment to be source of fair employment.

It is our third time participating at the Cup of Excellence, and we are pleased and grateful for the results obtained. This has been a motivation to improve ourselves to continue growing the coffee plantations, promoting sustainability with the environment, complying with good and ethical agricultural practices that allow a better use of resources, in order to leave a positive mark on the environment and produce a high quality coffee.
