Description

The farm was acquired in 1998 with an area of 118.5 ha of pastures, where dairy cattle were raised. On this farm there is a cross that dates to 1882, thus the name of the farm is Cruzeiro. The farm is run by Enivaldo Marinho Pereira, who bought it with money raised by selling coffee seedlings. Enivaldo devoted himself to growing coffee seedlings to be sold.

He is the first generation to grow coffee on the property. Currently the farm has an area of 200 ha, 125 of which are dedicated to growing coffee.

The farm relies on the help of women; Enivaldo’s wife is responsible for commercialization and finance at the farm and his daughter is studying agronomy. At the farm, there are 6 duly registered female employees who help with services in general, such as selective picking of the beans, drying and other post-harvest processes. The two children are among the owners; the son is 26, graduated in agronomy, and who helps run the farm, focusing on post-harvest with a goal of quality in the process, and the daughter who helps her father part-time, taking care of administrative activities on the farm.

This coffee was found to have superior qualities during initial mapping. A selective harvest of the ripe cherries was done. The coffee was dried slowly, thickening the layers on the patio. This coffee was not washed, in order to preserve the microbiota of the lot. After drying, the coffee was taken to a rest box, where it remained for 15 days. Finally, it was processed.

A field of varieties was planted on the farm to try to obtain the best quality. There are more than 30 different coffee varieties on the farm fazenda. Through mapping, it is possible to see which varieties have the best cup quality. A local processing unit was installed in 2020 with patios, washers, pulpers, hullers, dryers, processing machinery and rest boxes, all latest generation to achieve the best quality possible in the post-harvest.
